Let us introduce to you our friends and partners at Thrivent, who truly ‘live generously’. The following is from Micah Velilla.
“I first heard the mission
of Lighthouse for Life, to rescue and restore those oppressed by sex trafficking,
at a presentation at my church. The Lord immediately stirred in me a desire to
do more than just partner with Lighthouse but to empower them. We have since
been able to involve congregational advocates in the greater midlands and even
the statewide women of ELCA in supporting the work that God is doing. Big
change takes a big crowd, and we hope that we can continue to work together as a
fraternal organization and as the body of Christ to hold up the precious lives
of those unforgotten.
At Thrivent, we empower
Christians to make the most of the resources that the Lord has entrusted to
them. We have been honored to help Lighthouse for Life by helping expand its
giving base, including them in our choice dollar charitable giving program, and
partnering with them in fundraisers and service projects like the Freedom Bag
initiative.
We help our members
strengthen their financial position, prepare for their future and the future of
their loved ones, and partner with them in making a difference in their
communities. As a highly awarded fortune 500 company, we are able to offer a
wide array of tools and resources such as insurance and investments to help
members thrive in the lives that God has given them. Call Micah Velilla
at 803-873-3815 to set up a free financial consultation and start living
generously!”

Lighthouse for Life recently had the opportunity to partner with the FBI to Assist in training those involved in the Tourism Industry! We were thrilled to have representatives from many different organizations and businesses present for these trainings! We believe it is critical to help them know what to look for, as a lot of traffickers use these venues for their operations. We are hoping to provide further training next month. If you are interested in knowing more please contact us and stay tuned to our social media for more.
Recently, Lexington County sent out this memo saying they are looking for a missing woman, Alena Kennedy, 36 years old. Our law enforcement and first responders spend countless hours on the front lines fighting human trafficking; whether by searching for those missing, rescuing victims, or fighting for justice to be served!
Join us in our sincere appreciation for all of their efforts!
While not specific to SC, Laramie Gorbett, from the Texas Association Against Sexual Assult, takes 10 minutes to clearly answer questions about human trafficking, how to identify victims, and the importance of addressing the demand. This is something every citizen of SC should be aware of!
