Meet Rick Carter, our friend and partner with Northside Christian Academy in Lexington!
“My name is Rick Carter and I am committed to Lighthouse for Life. I first heard about the ministry three years ago from my school principal, Michelle Brewer, at Northside Christian Academy. We were looking for a ministry to adopt as our class project and after much research, we chose to come along side of L4L.
Since first learning of L4L I have been struck by the huge need for this ministry. You can’t go a single day without reading of cases involving human trafficking in our community, and what we read about is just the tip of the iceberg. We must take a stand for these folks and help them out of the darkness they have been trapped in.
I currently volunteer in several capacities with L4L. I have helped move supplies to and from civic events, met with hotel owners and invited them to seminars, and I am now on the ministry prayer team. I also recently committed to being a financial partner with the ministry. I look forward to many more opportunities to serve, as we are the hands and feet of Jesus to “the least of these.” I am praying for a time that we no longer need a ministry like this, but until that day we must not sit silently and allow those that are most vulnerable to be abused and taken advantage of.
As the senior class sponsor at NCA I have set up a partnership with L4L. Our students will be working closely with the ministry helping in any way we can. I see this as a challenge to our students. It is easy in this community to become apathetic, lazy, and self-absorbed. My prayer is that my students will see the pain and the need around them and become inspired to step out and help, and that this will be a life-changing year in their lives. Please pray with me for this wonderful ministry. Also, pray for my seniors, that they would grow into the godly young men and women that our world so desperately needs.”

A huge part of our mission at L4L is to educate our communities and do all we can to empower them to take a stand against human trafficking. Take a glimpse from our calendar and see a little of what that has meant for us!
During the months of July and August alone we have a total of 32 awareness events/trainings!
These cover areas from Hemingway, Conway, Columbia, Aiken, Lancaster and Rock Hill!
Just some of the audiences include Palmetto Children’s Hospital, DSS, LRADAC, DJJ, the Tourism Industry, Toby’s Place, Drayer Physical Therapists, Central Baptist Church, Lexington District 1 bus drivers, Northside Christian Academy seniors, Lexington School Resource Officers, and Lexington District 3 personnel.
Hundreds of resources have been passed into hands of those who have now joined us in this fight!!
Have we told you yet today how much we appreciate YOUR support?? We cannot do this without you!!
Watch this video with Jason Johnston presenting to Columbia a very important key in the prevention of human trafficking!
Please continue to pray for our government as they seek to create and pass laws that will help stop the demand, prosecute human trafficking, and support the victims!
