THE IDEAWe are so excited to share with you news of a very powerful, insightful, diverse and authentic video awareness campaign we are launching this month that will run throughout the fall. It’s called, “The Truth About Trafficking: Dark to Light.”
Truth will feature the video stories of trafficked survivors as well as the law enforcement and health care advocates who intersect with them, highlighting a wide variety of unique perspectives and experiences. The raw, honest and informative series promises to shine a light onto human trafficking. Our overriding goal is to educate. We want to dispel myths, promote awareness in our communities, and prompt much needed discussions.
Our video series will also include blogs that dig deeper into the lives of our participants and their areas of experience or expertise.
This newsletter is dedicated to the launch of our new series and sharing a bit of the story of how this idea was hatched!

So many wonderful parts of this ministry have been the idea of a community members. Meet Christy Cox. This awareness campaign was her beautiful idea! Read about it in her own words.
“I guess you can call this a good — or a Godly — midlife crisis. For about 10 years now I have really been asking God what He wants me to do for Him. He has blessed me with a good and interesting career that started out many years ago as a TV reporter. That evolved into a speechwriting and communications career in politics and diplomacy for which I am very grateful. But my heart was yearning to do something…and I was searching.
As I continued to pray on how I could best serve, God began to put things in my path. He brought me back to the two things I had loved most when I was younger but left behind as I pursued my career — sports and telling stories. So at the wee age of 50, He opened up a way for me to start coaching softball and then, along with my teenage daughter, to launch a sports-related business called Body Chek Sports Essentials, LLC.
He then helped me see I could use my business platform as a way to tell God-honoring, inspirational stories. I also wanted the business, small as it is, to donate to God-honoring causes, which led me last Christmas to write a small check to Lighthouse for Life. When Jen Thompson called to thank me, I reminded her that we
had met briefly years ago and a God-connection was made. I knew I wanted to help L4L and as God would have it, Jen had some projects she needed help with!
The rest is history. A few good power lunches at Chicken Salad Chick and we had our dream series plotted. I am so grateful to Matt Brodie at Brodie Media and his brilliant wife, Jessica, who help me on my projects for their willingness to come on board and create this.
It’s been an incredible blessing. The thing that just blows me away is every single time I talk to anyone – be it survivors or someone striving to serve them — it always comes back to Jesus. Always. He truly does save. He is the great redeemer in all our stories.”

THE PURPOSE In this picture I was trying to build a stack of rocks as cool as the one someone else had built previously on the same trail. Did you know you are building a legacy? We are all building a legacy each day by everything we do, say, support and believe in. Thank you for supporting Lighthouse for Life as we strive to build a lasting legacy of truth and freedom to encourage others who come along this path long after we are gone.~ Jen Thompson
