My name is Dayna Thompson. As the Assistant Volunteer Coordinator for Lighthouse for Life, I coordinate and schedule volunteers on an ongoing basis. I
am a wife, a mother, and a follower of Jesus. For me, I was seeking my spiritual gift that was given to me at salvation. My wise friends told me to
start doing things and serve. Here is what I discovered after volunteering. I really enjoyed it! My husband and daughter started noticing how much
I enjoyed it and encouraged me to continue. I found a great deal of satisfaction while doing the administrative tasks and furthering Lighthouse for
Life’s footprint. I realize I have a gift of serving that includes administration. You too might be looking for your spiritual gift. Try serving at
Lighthouse for Life and you might find yours as well!!
Karis Home Update
Karis Home is OPEN for Residents!!!
On 11:00 AM Monday, August 12, 2019, our dreams became a reality.
I cannot begin to tell you all of the emotions that washed over me at that moment and occasionally (like as I write this), still do! Wow! What a journey
it has been to get to this point. How many times have we longed to say those cherished words...Karis Home is Open! Its finally time
to welcome our residents!!
On each of our hearts and minds now we wonder, what will our first resident be like? Will she be quiet or outgoing? Will she like music or art or sports?
What will she decorate her room like? How can we love her well and what are the many lessons I'm sure she will teach us? Karis Home acquiring its 'open'
status concludes the long pre-season prep work and now its time for the real game to begin! And we are ready!
We know we don't enter into this alone. First and foremost we know our Heavenly Father goes before us, with us, and comes along behind us. We also know
that each of you are in this with us, faithful with your love, prayers, financial support, and countless words of encouragement. As always, THANK YOU!

Monitors of Justice
Lighthouse for Life (L4L) is launching a new Monitors of Justice program. Modeled after Mothers Against Drunk Driving, the
nonprofit is asking people to attend and observe court proceedings for individuals charged with Human Trafficking.
“We believe one of the best ways to ensure justice is done is to have the public participate in the process as court observers,” said Bob Healy, Director
of Public Policy. “We hope these actions will incline prosecutors to seek a sentence fully in line with the crime.” One of the first chances to participate
in this program should develop in the coming months with a sex trafficking case in Richland County involving juvenile victims. Lighthouse for Life
has reached out to local churches in Richland County to ask for volunteers.
The organization wants you, the reader, to be able to participate as well. Whether you can attend court or not, the organization asks you pray for the
victims as well as the defendant. Even if the defendant is guilty, “he has not fallen so far that the hand of God cannot reach him,” Healy said.
Lighthouse for Life is a proud and active participant of the Richland County Anti Human Trafficking Task Force.
The next meeting will be held on September 20, 2019 at 2500 Decker Blvd. Columbia SC.
This event will begin at 10:00 a.m. and is open to the public.
